Andy Cash (26) has been jailed for life having pleaded guilty to the savage murder of his siblings Lisa Cash (18) and eight-year-old twins, Christy and Chelsea Cawley in Sept 2022 at their in Dublin.

In September 2022, Ireland was shocked by the harrowing news story of three siblings murdered at their home on Rossfied Avenue, in Tallaght. Andy Cash has pleaded guilty to having inflicted hundreds of stab wounds on his siblings before killing them and through one of the children from a first-floor window. Cash was sentenced to three mandatory terms of life imprisonment.

Their 14-year-old brother managed to escape the house and raise the alarm. Lisa (18) was found at the bottom of the stairs in the family home with 71 slash and stab wounds to her face, back, chest and limbs. There is evidence that she tried to defend herself.

Having murdered the eight-year-old twins Cash threw the body of his brother out of a first-story window. Christy had suffered 107 wounds. Chelsea was stabbed 65 times.

Margaret McDonagh, their mother's victim impact statement was read at Dublin's Central Criminal Court.

She wrote, "Our three innocent children were viciously taken from us and that was the day the world stopped turning."

"... What is left is our broken family and every day since has been unbearable."

In a joint statement, the family said they have lived with this pain every day since Sept 4, 2022.

"We miss everything about them, hearing their voices, their laughs, the conversations we would have, the games we would play as a family, the hugs and kisses that we won't ever get from them again.

"The only thing that hurts more than losing them is knowing how much they have missed out on, how they never got to finish school with their friends or learn how to drive a car or get the chance to see the world.

"It's not just what was taken from us that hurts, it's how their whole lives were taken from them before they even had a chance to live them."

The statement continues "There is no amount of time a person can spend in a jail cell that will justify what has happened to our family.

"Lisa, Christy and Chelsea deserved so much more from life, they deserved to grow old and live their lives however they would have chosen to and to have families of their own."

Cash was present in court but spoke only to answer "guilty" to the three charges.

His lawyer, Brendan Grehan, said his client had asked him to say that he was sorry for his actions and to the people that he had hurt.
